On knee and heel
he pledged his faith,
banner limp in hand.
“Oh lady night,”
his voice still raw,
“My heart conquered be.”
Cool slim fingers
his features traced,
depth-less eyes appraised.
“Oh golden sun,”
silver lips spoke,
“‘Tis my heart that’s won.”
