A twist and a dive,
a flutter and flap,
a pale spark among her locks.
What jewel, what treat
nestled soft below
does beckon to those aloft?
The thief espies
his glimmering boon
and angles toward his prize.
He wings away,
his guilt clutched tight,
before her bewildered eyes.
And out she cries,
for lost delights,
for broken dreams come to bear.
He hears her weep
and with a sweep
returns the star to her hair.
